About me
I'm a former languages major, now a developer with a lifelong passion for web-development, languages (human or otherwise), and pretty much anything creative. Currently honing my front-end skills and expanding my knowledge to become a full-stack web developer.
My parents worked in the IT industry before I was even born, and thanks to that, computers have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My curiosity toward them has always been boundless; I would usually sit with my dad whenever we were to change hardware parts or build an entire new rig. Sometimes I would pretend I knew what I was doing, and attempt a BIOS reset to bypass the password my parents set to prevent me from using the PC outside play hours. But more than the hardware, it was the software that always fascinated me. Especially, the web.
From the late 90s-early 2000s chatrooms and instant messenger apps, to the boom of personal websites and customizable blogging platforms ā to the young me, the web was a magical tool with endless potential for creativity. Exposure to personal art websites and blogs made me start dabbling in HTML and CSS code.
But it turns out 17-year-old me wrongly believed that one had to be great at Math to pursue a career in anything IT-related, and so I ended up letting another passion of mine pull me into a completely different field for my university years: (human) languages. Thanks to spending years practicing reading and writing English on the web, I had reached a decent level of English proficiency, and went on another linguistic journey. This time to learn Japanese.
While unrelated to my coding journey, the one-year scholarship I got in Japan was a life-changing experience. Being half the world away from home, immersed in a completely different culture, and surrounded by fellow students from all over the world made me more appreciative of different world views and lifestyles. It sparked the same kind of curiosity toward a completely "different world" that the world wide web did to young me.

Now, fast-forwarding to the present. After a bachelor's degree in languages, a couple of attempts at igniting my interest in the field of translation, and (the equivalent of) an associate's degree in software engineering, I'm back to solve the unfinished business with my first passion.
For that end, I'm seeking job opportunities where I can cooperate with a team to build amazing digital solutions that are valuable to their users. I am primarily looking for a full-time position, but I am also currently open to do freelance gigs.
